We're planning a scavenger hunt for the kids, pumpkin decorating, water balloon competition and other events. The AAACC will provide hamburgers and hotdogs, related fixins’ and soft drinks. Be sure to bring a side dish, or dessert to share. So come on out, relax and enjoy this opportunity to share some good times with your family and AAACC friends in a relaxing and understanding environment. They will also answer written questions from parents and other interested attendees. It is requested that you submit your questions to the AAACC no later than Wednesday, November 9, by emailing them to AAACC@asdcalvert.org. Any questions submitted after that date will not be submitted for consideration during the November 17 meeting. For reasons of privacy, it is requested that you do not identify a specific child, teacher, administrator or school in your questions. Questions submitted should address general special education/autism services provided throughout the school system and related policies. We will submit all questions collected to the CCPS Special Education Department and will respect your privacy as well. It is strongly recommended that attendees RSVP, as parking and seating is limited and we would like to assure adequate food and beverages for all. Dr. Hu will present information regarding her research into biological causes of autism and the impact it may have on future diagnostic procedures and treatment options. Professor Hu is both an autism researcher and the parent of a son with autism. She redirected her research focus towards autism about 7 years ago and has since published 10 papers on the genes and biological pathways associated with ASD.
